• When I click on any of the pages I have created (such as About, Resources, Contact), I get a 404 “Page Not Found” error. I have the “page tile” plugin activated. Why is this happening? What do I need to do to show these pages (and avoid the 404 error)?

Even worse, when I click on the “Permalink” option for my posts, I get a 404 error. Yes, the Permalink option has been enabled (Under Options> Permalinks, I have chosen “Date and Name Based.”) Why is this happening? Help!

  • Without a uri it’s hard to say.
Did you try de-activating the plugin and see if stuff worked?

Hi Samboll – When I deactivate the “Pages Tile” plugin, the Pages that I have set up for my site disappear from the sidebar, and I still get a 404 error when I click on “Permalink” for my posts. Deactivating the “Pages Tile” seems to do nothing but remove my pages from the sidebar.

did you change the page name but not the “slug”?

Also, did you make any changes to permalinks?

Hi miklb. I figured out the problem with permalinks. My .htacess file was not writeable, so when I clicked on “permalink” I got a 404 error. Is it safe to leave my .htaccess file with permissions set to 666? Or, do I need to change it back?

I still don’t know what’s causing the pages to display a 404 error. My guess is it has something to do with the Semiologic “Pages Tile” plugin.

Okay, pages are working normally now. Still don’t know what caused the 404 error. But, oddly enough, everything’s fine now.

the 404 is usually caused by erronous information in the .htaccess file. it gets solved by changing the file’s permission and resetting the permalink options.
