404 error when saving
-
Hi,
I search for that kind of issue on the forum and didn’t find any response.
For administrator (and only for administrator), when editing a profile and saving it we got a 404 error.
Desactivate “Members” plugin stoped the issue.
Can you give any hints to find the issue here ?
Thanks you in advance,
Maxime

More information about the issue : it look like it happenens only if the administrator is trying to edit their profile.
Hi Maxime,
Members doesn’t have any permalinks settings that could cause this issue. Could you go to Settings → Permalinks and click “Save Changes” button? After that, clear your browser and website cache and see if that helps.
If that doesn’t help, I would check plugin conflict. Please deactivate all your plugins temporarily and leave Members active to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate all plugins one by one to see which one causes that issue. You can also switch the current theme to the default WordPress theme temporarily and see if this helps.
Other than that, you could also contact your hosting and ask them for checking if there are any PHP errors that may explain that error.
Kind regards
Hi ! Thanks for your reply !
I tried, before posting on this forum, the permalinks things. It didn’t work. I tried on Chrome, Mozilla and different computer. Same issue.
I desactivated all the plugins and tried again ; it still doesn’t work.
I will try contacting my host, i will make a feedback later.
If it still doesn’t work, or my host didn’t find any issue in their side, what can i do ?
I have no PHP Error !
And i’m still stuck with this 404 error when trying to edit my profile.I can confirm to that only administrators have this issue !

I’m not aware of anything in Members that would throw a 404 when trying to edit your own profile. Even with missing privileges, some kind of error message should show. Maybe you could restore the original administrator privileges in Role Manager.
Kind regards
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Here is the only message in error i got (the only one and multiple time on different date).
[Thu Oct 21 14:44:34.435253 2021] [authz_core:error] [pid 12738:tid 47792644425472] [client IPADRESSE] AH01630: client denied by server configuration: /home/NAME/public_html/wp-includes/ID3/error_log, referer: binance.com
How can i restore the original administrator privileges ?
More information again, sorry for the double posts.
An administrator can edit and save an other administrator without getting the 404 error.
An administrator can edit and save their own profile when they uncheck the admin role.Hi, still have the same issue, do you have any idea ?
Maybe you can reset user roles and capabilities to defaults to fix it. Users’ capabilities are stored in the database in the wp_user_roles option in the wp_options table, so you can update this option directly in the database. You can use cPanel or one of the database plugins, but before you do this make sure to backup the current value to restore your roles later if needed. Here you can find the default value for the wp_user_roles option.
