I am trying to update to the new version of the Events Calendar on our very old site. To make sure it doesn’t completely break our site, I am trying it out on a staging site created using WP-Staging and I cannot view the single event pages. I can edit them, but I get a 404 error for each event page. I have spent the last two weeks talking to WP-Staging support and they are convinced it has something to do with this plugin. I really can’t update until I can see these pages. I would love any help.

  • Hi @caffryfrankel,

Thanks so much for reaching out!

Could you please provide more information? If you could describe what steps you have done so far with a screenshot or quick screen recording, that would really help better understand moving forward.

Also please provide the version of the following:
    PHP
    WordPress
    The Events Calendar
    Theme

    Best regards,
    Cheska

    Hi @caffryfrankel,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Were you able to successfully migrate to the new Event Data System? If not, please check our knowledgebase article for tips for a smooth migration.

Darian: I have been able to migrate my events on the staging site but I still can’t reach them except on the page to edit.

Cheska: I have tried to make changes on the site and I have gone through all the steps to troubleshoot with the staging plugin. It has fixed nothing. This is clearly some sort of conflict with the event calendar and my site. I have updated my staging site to the latest version of The Events Calendar. I have followed all the instructions to activate and migrate the events. Nothing changes the fact that I can edit the pages but cannot see them live on the staging site.

My site is child’s theme of Twenty Twelve. I have updated my staging site to the latest version of WordPress and the latest version of The Events Calendar. I am not sure what the PHP is.

    I would appreciate any advice.

Hi @caffryfrankel, thanks for providing more information here. I could see on your website that you’re still using Legacy views and the previous version of the plugin v5.

Could you try updating to the new views? Follow this article here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/v1-deprecation-faqs/.

Then update your plugin to v6 and follow this article here shared by @d0153https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/migrating.

To be safe, we’d recommend conducting these tests on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Best,
    Abz

Not resolved yet. I was off for the holidays and will revisit next week.

Abz–thanks for responding. My problem is that I am trying to do this on a staging site but that is where I am having the problems. I cannot see the events pages on the staging site as you can see here:
The page I need help with:?https://www.hillstead.org/staging-site-12-

I have worked with the staging plugin author and they are convinced it is a problem with The Events Calendar. I am unable to update my live site until I can see that there won’t be a problem like this. I would appreciate any solutions or suggestions.
