    HI

I have a shopping cart, and on the Plugins page near the plugin called
    All 404 Redirect to Homepage

It is telling me underneath this message:
Oops! You have too many 404 pages!! Show & fix all broken links with our SEO redirection Plugin

I am not getting the 404 errors on the live site, it is just obviously in the backend that I can’t see directly.

So I am not sure what the best way to fix these 404 errors and how to find them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated urgently.

What is the best thing to do ?

    Thanks
    Kristin

    Hey kristinubute,

Plugins page near the plugin called All 404 Redirect to Homepage

This doesn’t sound like a WooCommerce-specific issue, my recommendation would be to speak to the support for that plugin about how to resolve this.

If the issue is WooCommerce related, please do give us some more information.

    Thanks,

    HI,

I have disabled the specific plugin as it was only a redirect plugin.

Google is saying there are quite a few 404 errors that cannot be indexed.

How are 404 errors created and how do I fix it within the Woocommerce ?
What is best way to remove them, or redirect them ?

    Thanks
    Kristin

The best way to check for 404/broken links is to use a WordPress plugin like this one:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/broken-link-checker/

Finding out what’s broken will be the first step in figuring out how to fix it.

I hope that helps you in the right direction!

    Thanks for that.

Are 404 broken links created when a client changes the name of a page (eg the Permalink) also ?

Also when I uploaded the new website, I had to change the Permalinks so it could read the Shop pages, could that be a reason why also, then in the backend the system still thinks these pages exist when they actually don’t ?

I will check out the plugin now.

    Thanks

    Hi Kristin,

Every time you save permalinks in WordPress, WooCommerce will automatically regenerate all internal cross-links between product / shop / category pages, etc. All 404 errors that will remain are either due to:

    – Old product / page / category address added directly inside a product description / post / page / menu item,
    – A conflict with another plugin or theme with broken redirects.

In either case, using the Broken Link Checker plugin my colleague Hannah recommended will let you find where exactly these broken are located, and how they can be fixed.

    Cheers!

    Hi @kristinubute

We haven’t heard back from you on this topic but I can see you were involved in some discussion from the other plugin.

If you’re still experiencing some problems, this isn’t WooCommerce specific and you’d want to discuss with them.

I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Thanks,
