404 Errors now appearing

Could you please give me a link to a page where a redirect download is located? The one given goes to 404 not found.

I am not sure what you mean, as I normally just add the download using the download monitor widget, so its uploaded on there and I just put in the short code. I then go into the download and select re-direct to file. This normally will then just open the file in a webpage rather than download. I have 404 redirect on if pages arent found.

Hello Angie,

I mean a website page where I can click on the download link to see the behaviour. Also, could you please go to dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and click the “Save changes” button without modifying anything and see if the problem with the 404 is gone?

Its just a dummy page but put it live and popped a password on there as test

The download just goes straight to my 404 error page

Can’t seem to get the content to show. I’ve entered the test password but still shows the Enter password form.

Ahhh apoloigies, I have purged the Cache my end but I have now added a test document to an already live and working page. The file is at the bottom of the page called Test: Academic Publishing ? Academic Conferences International (academic-conferences.org)

Is the website server Apache or Nginx ( a screenshot of dashboard > Downloads > Settings > Advanced > Miscellaneous page would help )? Also, if you make a test Download with a file from the uploads/2023 directory and not the dlm_uploads( this directory, if on Apache, should be protected by an .htaccess file that doesn't let visitors browse directly to it, so only download would be possible ) does it work?

Here is the screen shot. I am not sure what you mean by uploading a file from the uploads 2023 not dln file. I just normally use the download monitor quick upload option. Regards Angie

If you you go to Media Library, upload a file ( an image for example ) and then use that file for a Download ( so adding a file to a Download by clicking the Media Library button as in the attached screenshot ), does the redirect work or does is still go to a 404 page?

Also, there were no screen shots added in your previous reply.

I have set up a new test page which not only has the screen shot on it, but also a document that uploaded onto media file and then put it into download monitor and used the redirect and this does work. It appears to just not work if uploaded directly into DLM

Hello Angie,

Yes, files located in the dlm_uploads directory are protected, so direct access is not allowed to them, as mentioned below the Redirect to file setting.
