    These 404 errors are being triggered by Google bot.

    Are you saying that you are seeing these 404 errors in google web master tools?

    Google bot reads xml sitemap and robot txt for “directions” to go on your website.

    If you have a plugin that’s generating sitemap, please check that it’s generating correctly.
