404 in domain.com/wp_folder

  • Hi all,

    Just a quickie.

    If I view wp via elyonline.co.uk but my install is in elyonline.co.uk/news/ – should I be able to view my site still from elyonline.co.uk/news/ ?

    I ask beciase when I do try to view elyonline.co.uk/news/ I get a 404 error.

  • i’m confused…

    you installed wordpress in the subfolder “news” but it appears live on your site without “news” being in the URL?

    this doesn’t make sense, unless you made changes in the OPTIONS tab to show a just the main URL instead of the subdirectory one…

    Thats correct, I just need to know whether the site should also be viewable via https://www.elyonline.co.uk/news/

    No, because elyonline.co.uk/news/ will then point to elyonline.co.uk/news/news/ in reality.
