I posted about an hour ago but my problem seems to have greatly escalated. I was trying to add a favicon, I didn’t change anything, just added a plugin. Now, I’m trying to go from my cpanel in Yahoo (where I’m hosted) to my wordpress and I’m getting 404 Not Found “Not Found

The requested URL https:// was not found on this server.”

    Can anyone help???

Does anyone have any idea where I can turn to for help? I can’t log in, post, or anything. Period. I can not get to the most basic WordPress screens because this error keeps coming up.

    1. Step one in cases like this is to undo what you did that caused the problem so FTP in and delete the folder for the plugin you just added.

Having said that your site (https://megsmind.com/) appears to be working fine for me.

    2. If you want a favicon you don’t need a plugin. You just put the icon into your root directory.

The site is working fine but I can’t get near wordpress’s control panel. I deleted the plugin but still nothing.

Well the URL you have listed in your original post is meaningless. I guess there may be some screw up with the CP. What error do you get when you log in via your site at (https://megsmind.com/blog/wp-login.php)

Trying to get to that URL is resulting in the following:

    500 Internal Server Error

The server has encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    So I can’t get in anywhere…

Going to https://us.1.p10.webhosting.yahoo.com/blog/index.php doesn’t help either.

Your not the only one.. I am confused as to who is at fault here.. some are having godaddy issues and reading this I think its yahoo.. I have the same thing going on…

I spent a few hours on with yahoo last night and seem to have lost my entire site. I don’t know who’s to blame but I can’t even begin to figure out how to fix it. If anyone has any ideas, I’d really like to hear them.

Loadingreality- I was able to get into your site fine. Mine is now saying the index is missing.

Again with the bumping (and the not-so-silent prayer that someone will have a clue about this)

There was no server error when I checked your site before (I went to https://megsmind.com/blog/wp-login.php and it displayed fine).

If you did something in-between posting and me responding then you need to undo it.

If you did nothing then its your hosts fault and you need to talk to them.

the 500 internal server error is a server configuration – looks like it’s set to not allow people to view pages that don’t exist or that have certain permissions.

I can get to your login page just fine, but I can’t view your blog. (funny – just tried again – not 1 minute later, and I can see your blog just fine)

I’d say your server has some issues right now.

Yep its back for me too. Just posted a test comment.

I’m with godaddy and having problems with permalinks displaying a 404 not found error. This on the same hosting account where WP (2.0) was previously installed with permalinks working perfectly! Huh?

A word to the wise: godaddy will refuse support for any user-installed software. Better to just get help in the codex or in this forum.

Would it be beneficial to transfer my domain ownership to a new company (perhaps yahoo where it’s hosted)??

Is Yahoo your host? (ugh!) If it is, and you can change hosts, I’d recommend bluehost or asmallorange.

    (@megsmind)

Yahoo is my host, I’m really green at this stuff and it was the easiest one to get set up on and it was recommended by WP – guess that was another wrong move

What do I do about the fact that when you go to megsmind.com it says I’m missing the index page? You have to go to a secondary address to get to my blog
