    Hello,

When the setting “Restrict Media Library Access” is enabled, all URLs in front are redirected to the 404 page for any logged-in users with a role different than administrator and who are not the author of the post.

If I understand well this setting, it should be applied only to attachements in the Media admin menu, not all post types (particularly in front-office) ?

If so, it seems to me that the function hide_posts_media_by_other should test the current post type and/or the $pagenow variable before adding the author in the query.

    Hello @nobilito,

Thank you for reaching our support!

The 404 error page will be shown to the unauthorized users. If you allowed only authors and administrators, then only those roles will be able to see that page.

By default, WordPress allows users who can access Media Library to see all files there.

This option allows you to restrict users to only see their own uploads under the Media Library only.

It comes in handy if you allow multiple users to access the Media Library from the admin dashboard.

So just to clarify in advance, “Restrict Media Library Access” just adds another security layer to our file protection.

It doesn’t affect our main file protection function. It isn’t that only when enabling that option will our file protection work properly either.
