404 on fresh install

I’ve also received a report about a 403 error. This is a weird issue. I’ll check the code thoroughly.

If you have access to the server’s error log, posting any relevant error messages would be very helpful and appreciated.

No matter what I’ve tried I could not reproduce the 403/404 error while installing, upgrading, activating, deactivating or visiting the settings page.

I need a more detailed error message.

I intend to rewrite a small part of the code that could theoretically cause a problem while the plugin loads a small internal script for the color picker.

I’ll let you know about a beta release which you can try.

Version 1.8.2 is out. It contains some improvements in the way the admin page is generated. I’m not saying this is a fix, because I don’t have enough information to know exactly what the real problem is in your use case, but please try it and let me know if it works.

Tried 1.8.4 – same error. I can confirm the file exists.

Here’s something I noticed. Instead of activate, if I click on edit – i.e. https://rakhesh.com/wp-admin/plugin-editor.php?file=creative-commons-configurator-1/cc-configurator.php – it fails with the 404 as usual. But, if I try a different file – say https://rakhesh.com/wp-admin/plugin-editor.php?file=creative-commons-configurator-1/readme.txt – it works!

Which got me thinking, how about I rename “cc-configurator.php” to “cc.php” and try that? Maybe it’s a filename length issue? So I renamed and went to https://rakhesh.com/wp-admin/plugin-editor.php?file=creative-commons-configurator-1/cc.php – and now it works! Weird!

Once I rename the file thus I can activate it from the plugin menu too. So the plugin now works.

Any ideas why renaming did the trick?
