404 on only one post

    As per the title, I am getting a 404 on one of our posts. I have checked for a solution and most of the fixes have not seemed to work.

    The bizarre part of it is that I can create a test post and it works just fine… However, as soon as I make a post and call it “Team Crimson”, I get a 404 every single time… go figure.

    Is there a solution to this problem? (I do not want to revert to an old backup and re-create our entire site)

  • Do you have a category and a post both called team crimson and using the same slug?
    If that’s the case, then I would change the slug of the category.

    No… but I have just checked all of them to make sure. There is no category labelled “team-crimson”.

    Very strange…
    I’m not sure what else to try.

    Deactivate all of your plugins to make sure one of them is not causing havoc.
    Try changing the permalinks to default and then back to what you were using.
    Check your trash and delete all posts in there.

    Finally, I would change the slug of the post to something else. Maybe remove the hyphen.

    Do you have a custom post type, or are you using a custom template? Is there any difference at all between you that, and the other posts on your site?

    Also, another thing I noticed–you have the feed for all your teams paginated on the front page. You have three pages of three posts each, and team-crimson IS showing up there. Only, when you try following the link through to the post, it gives you a 404.

    What strikes me as strange is that Dark Resistance isn’t on that list of posts. Also, when I click on the banner AD for Team Crimson, it sends me to https://spawnpointgaming.co.uk/team-crimson2/.

    Don’t know if you’ve been creating pages or posts or something, but it looks like there’s a duplicate slug somewhere in there. It would probably be a good idea to check all your post types and pages.

    Dark Resistance should not be there… thanks for pointing that one out!

    As for Team-Crimson, I just removed the “-” and it works now.
