404 on Pages/Posts and Add Pages/Posts

    Hi there,

    I had been using Query Monitor fine on a localhost install and finally migrated things to my live server to start speed testing and now whenever Query Monitor is activated, I get a 404 on posts/pages and add posts/pages. I can sometimes get it to work by deactivating certain combinations of plugins but even those combinations are tempermental and inconsistent. The only thing that guarantees my site works 100% normally is disabling Query Monitor. I’m not seeing any relevant errors in the cpanel server error log and there are no javascript errors (although Query Monitor reports some ajax errors with Oxygen Builder). Also, all pages work totally normally when Query Monitor is active but the user is logged out so it seems like it’s something to do with the Query Monitor in the admin toolbar somehow interfering. I have also saved permalinks repeatedly to flush/refresh the permalink structure.

    Do you have any idea of what could be happening or how I could remedy it? If you need a login to check things out, give me the appropriate support email and we can go from there.

    Do you have a large number of PHP errors being logged, or a large number of database queries being performed on each page load?

    When you see a 404 is it a WordPress 404 (styled by your theme) or a server 404 (usually not styled)?

    If it’s the latter, you should get in touch with your web host as they might have a feature in place to serve a 404 when there’s a server problem. Not common, but who knows.

    Hi John,

    It is a wordpress 404. I’ve figured out that my shared hosting has a low max_user_connections (just 15) and this combind with the number of plugins I was running was maxxing out the server. My hosting company refused to raise the limit so I moved over to a vultr server and encounter no issues now. I appreciate your response – great job with the plugin!
