• Hi,

In my permalinks I use custom structure of /%postname%/, however recently I’m getting an error 404 for all of my posts, My pages are fine.
If I change to default, save, then change to custom structure of /%postname%/ everything works for a short while but then the post will 404 again.
I also installed WP-DBmanager, done optimisation and repair but it still 404’s happen, I’m getting a little confused by this as other WP sites I run are ok.

https://www.gulliversonlineservices.co.uk is the problem site. You will see the recent news list in the footer.

https://www.thecrowebar.com is the other site which is fine. Recent posts are in the left column

-404 is failure to communicate with the server.

    – it could be configuration issue

    – it could be memory issue

    – it could be permalinks issue.

    – it could be optimization issue

try checking the server error log or php error log first.

    Thanks t-p,

But 404 errors are not server communication errors.

Well today I initiated a host transfer so I will wait and see if the problem fixes itself. With old host I could not get access to these logs anyway. This is one of reasons why I’m migrating.

Just thought I’d give an update.

My 404 issue appeared to be a conflict with wp-ecommerce plugin. I noted a warning when I saved the permalink and this warning was from wp-ecommerce. I deleted the plugin and 10 hrs later I’m not getting 404’s anymore on my posts.

    Thx
    Darren
