    Hi

The plugin has been working fine but suddenly our client has been getting a 404 Page Not Found error when uploading files.

If we go into “Add File” and if we either upload one or FTP one and choose it from the drop down, when we click on the “Add File” button it wants to go to

    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp-downloadmanager/download-add.php

    and says “Page not found”

Yet when I click on “Add File” in the admin navigation it’s going to that same place (and not erroring).

    Very confused!

We are running version 1.63 of the plugin.

    Thanks

Further to this, we have updated the plugin with the latest version and we still have this problem. Thanks.

That’s the one I am using.

I login to the admin, click on “Add File” on the left. This all works and I get the page to add the file. As soon as I actually click the button on that page to add the file though, I get a page not found error.

    Thanks.

Weird, I can’t reproduce this problem on my end. Check your error logs? It might have been mod_security giving you some errors.

Where would I find the error logs?

I will not know, it differs from host to host. Contact your host.

I have looked at the error logs generated by WordPress and nothing in there.

Have looked at the logs generated by the server (in cPanel) and can’t see anything in there.

    What would you suggest next?

    Thanks,

    1. Submit the form again, it will give you 404, immediately go check the logs.
    2. Try deactivating all plugins and switch to the default theme and try again
    3. If that doesn’t work, see if you have mod_security installed, if you have, deactivate it (that might need some technical knowledge).
    4. If 1, 2 and 3 does’t work. Try an alternative plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/download-manager/..

I have been in contact with the server administrators and they found out that there were a few rules catching the uploader out – “remote file injection”

They have disabled those rules for our site and it’s all working fine now.

    Thanks
