• After (sort of) figuring out WordPress basics, and being able to add and edit things, I’ve hit a brand new wall.

Trying to use the typical sign-in (www.designsandsigns.net/hwm_des_admin/) brings up the error in my topic title, along with, “The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.” This, despite the fact that the web page *is* there.

Any help would be appreciated. I’m far from a newbie, but am finding WordPress to be inscrutible, and so far, the forums to be not very helpful! Thank you!

  • Maybe there is a setting from one of your plugins (sign-in) that does not allow visitors to view without signing in first.

Thank you for your response, but I’m afraid I don’t understand. The problem is, I can’t sign in. The only way I know to sign in is to use that sign-in link. If it doesn’t work for me, where can I go?

    Am I even making sense?

To clarify, my website’s address is designsandsigns.net. And when I attempt to get in to access the page with either “www.designsandsigns.net/hwm_des_admin/” or “www.designsandsigns.net/wp-admin/” or “www.designsandsigns.net/wp-login.php” I get the 404 error.

Is there another way into the dashboard?

I would disable whatever the plugin you use by renaming its folder or remove it from the plugins folder. Then you can try to login again.

The plugin? So you’re saying there’s a faulty plugin? Oh boy.

Thanks, phe.le. I know you’re trying to help, but I don’t have any idea how to act on what you’re telling me. I think I’m going to have to hire somebody.

So, there is no other way to access the Dashboard, except by a web browser, using one of the methods I tried to use above, correct?

Yes, whatever plugin you’re using, it’s redirecting login.php page to https://www.designsandsigns.net/not_found

If you have FTP access, you can just backup the plugins folder, then delete the plugin that’s causing the problem.

I don’t think there is any other way to login.

Thanks. I follow what you’re saying.

Unfortunately for me, the folder with everything in it is inaccessible to me, having been built by someone else. I’ve got FTP access to only part of our domain. I’m up a creek without a paddle! But thanks for trying.

    >sigh<
