Hello, after I switched Permalinks to Simple, which I deliberately want to use, the 404 template stopped working. When I visit a non-existing page I get my hosting provider’s 404 page. I tried making a change and resaving the template and reverting this template to factory defaults. I keep getting my hosting provider’s 404 page. How to fix this?

Ok, I figured out something. When I invoke a non-existing page, but use a Simple permalink such as: https://example.com/?cat=20, then the Neve FSE 404 page works. But when I use a different address such as: https://example.com/does-not-exist, then I get my hosting provider’s 404 page. Any ideas as to what is going on? Is it possible to redirect all non existent links to the Neve FSE 404 page? I tried also switching to the Twenty Twenty Three theme, it’s the same story. All help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi @aardo,

Thank you for using Neve FSE and sharing more details about this use case.

The mentioned behavior is not specific to Neve FSE, as it occurs with a WordPress theme, too. I will forward your suggestion to our products team to be considered for future versions of the theme.

Our developers prioritize the highest-priority issues first, so we cannot provide a specific timeline for resolution at this time.

    Best regards,

    Irinel
