404 Website Down and No Admin Access

    Hi

    I’m a complete novice, i only started my website / wordpress design journey 3 weeks ago. So please explain things is layman’s terms if you can. Thanks

    Everything was going fine until i decided to edit my functions php. Then my website went down completely and returned a blank page.

    I have restored my theme’s zip file in cpanel, this only returned a 404 error on my website instead of a blank page. But i still have no access to wp-admin.

    I accessed my ftp file in cpanel but couldn’t figure out what do all. When i click on the files, they download to my computer, i tried to drag and drop a clean functions php into the file and it wouldn’t allow.

    Please help

    – To rule out any theme-specific issue, try switching to the unedited WP Twenty Twelve default theme for a moment using the WP dashboard. If you don’t have access to your admin area, you can switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
