404.php not displayed

  • Hi,

    I’m having trouble with my 404-Error-Page. It’s not showing up.

    I have made a simple 404.php-file and threw it into my theme’s folder. But still I’m getting the default:

    Not Found
    The requested URL /404.php was not found on this server.

    I also tried to alter the .htaccess-file, as describe in this article https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Creating_an_Error_404_Page

    Do I have to register the 404.php-file somewhere in the functions.php?
