41,000 Scheduled Actions

    I’m trying to sort out some fatal errors on my website. My ISP person has suggested it could be caused because the database is being loaded into memory and that I should look at the size of my database. It’s is 302mb (which apparently is large?) and over a quarter of it seems to be in these Scheduled actions so I’m looking into that as a first step.
    I have over 41,000 Scheduled actions that go back over 3 years.
    These are under the hooks (whatever they are) of
    wde_delivery_status, wde_hardtofind_push, wde_update_check, wde_postmanifest_updates
    and action_scheduler/migration_hook.
    1. Is 41,000 right for a small website that sells maybe 100 units a month?
    2. Why are completed ones from 2 years ago still there?
    3. Can I delete these?

  • Hi @windspeed! How’s it going today?

    I’m sure this is already on your radar, but just a quick context, the Action Scheduled is a system that triggers and runs events. Those events are, usually, requested by WooCommerce or any other third-party plugin.

    That being said, I’d take a closer look at all those canceled/failed/pending actions that you have.

    The best way to diagnose it is using a plugin called WP-Crontrol, it will check for errors on your Cron jobs.

    If you find any, you can try to run it again, by hovering your mouse over it.

    Hi Andre’,
    thanks for the great answer, I will install WR-Crontrol tonight and begin the process for both of those things.
    That actually was the small part of the 302mb database size, the bulk of it (180mb) seems to be in ‘post data’ and I’m told this is probably old woocommerce sales records etc as there are a number of warnings about lengthy records created by woocommerce PDF creator. Could it be I have a setting wrong that is storing these in the wrong way or for too long? Where will I search to find these settings and how do I archive or delete the old ones? Thanks again.

    Hello there,

    A database is created to store data and it involves all aspects of your site, there is no standard size for a database, my recommendation is to check if the issue is solved after installed WP Crontrol.

    As a reference, if you would like to reduce the size of your database you can check this blog.

    Hi everyone,
    Thanks for the timely support but I think all of this is beyond me. I’ve spent 3 days on this now and I seem to be no closer to a resolution. I’ve installed WP-Crontrol but can’t understand how to use it, I’ve read the post about reducing database size but, again, don’t know how to implement it, I’ve tried to implement Nick Greens fix but it didn’t make a difference (I probably put it in the wrong place!). In short, it’s time for me to admit defeat.
    Is there somewhere I can find an expert and pay them to fix this for me?
