Since the latest update, getting to the dashboard and working in admin on all of my wordpress installs (20 of them), most running the Twenty-Fourteen theme, have become slower than an injured snail’s crawl. Anyone else having this problem with the latest update? Anyone have any ideas for a fix? Disabling all plug-ins doesn’t affect the speed which is slow enough to sometimes time out.

@cybercobre – have you tried deactivating your plugins?

BTW, bumping your thread works against the likelihood of getting a reply:

If you have deactivated them, try enabling debug:

I still need some help with this, specifically, is this being addressed in the next update…which will, hopefully, come flying out of the box very soon?

More details, once I’m in to the dashboard–any dashboard of the twenty-some installs, it works pretty well. It’s getting into the dashboard from the front end first time that is beyond broken dog slow, even if I’m already logged in using the admin bar at the top of the page and clicking Dashboard.

This is not a known or widespread issue so far as I’ve seen on these forums.

Okay, thanks, WPyogi. I guess I’ll just wait it out.

Why not start troubleshooting your sites? Where are they hosted, BTW?

I’m on VPS on Dreamhost and I’ve gone through all the checks, restarted the VPS server and the VPS MySQL server. Pinging the sites brings them back fine on the frontend. It’s the dashboard access that’s glacial. RAM is running at 4% down to 0.4% on both VPS servers, the site server and the MySQL server.

Thing is, this only started since the last upgrade patch. I’ve had techs look at it, my programming guru look at it, and everybody is pointing to the newest patch as culprit. Like I said, disabling plugins has absolutely no effect whatsoever.

Have you tried doing a brand new install of WP4.1.1 on that server to see if you get that right out of the box?

I can. I’ll try it and get back to this, then, but it won’t be till after Mom’s doctor appointment. Thanks, WPYogi. I’ll be back with the results once I try that.

Did the brand new install, and, no deal. Accessing the dashboard still takes forever’s eon. Once on the dashboard, everything works well, but that first access is slow, slower, slowest.

I have exactly the same issue. Tried Hostgator support several times, and when they see, that I have one 4.1.1 version that is slow, and the previous version on the same server, that is quick enough, they keep telling me it’s WordPress.

I have deinstalled all plugins in the 4.1.1., I even chose the standard theme, and it’s still so slow in the dashboard, that Google Chrome often times out. It takes betweeen 15 and 30 seconds for every click in the 4.1.1 dashboard where as the previous version it only takes 1-2 seconds.

I’m sooo frustrated and don’t know what to do, and I don’t wanna update my previous WP version on the good installation to 4.1.1, because it’s really quick, even with 20 plugins and a big theme with many items.

    Best regards Peter

I also did a brand new install. CyberCobre, No deal either.
