    To follow up:

I am using the Google XML Sitemap Generator plugin. Every time I try to create the sitemap, I get the same message:

There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable. Learn more
There was a problem writing your zipped sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable. Learn more

I have uploaded the sitemap.xml file and edited permissions to 666. I am very unfamiliar with web design, so this is based off what I have found in forums.

I am still having no luck. Any suggestions?

    Hi Adam,

For your first question, you may just need to give it time. All in One SEO Pack can’t magically get your website on Google immediately. ??

For Google XML Sitemap Generator, check out https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_File_Permissions to learn more about file permissions. Exactly what the permissions should be will vary depending on how that particular server is set up.
What file did you upload? Try creating a blank file called sitemap.xml and one called sitemap.xml.gz and upload them to your sites root directory. Make them writable (contact your host if you need to in order to find out what permission levels the files should be) and then try Google XML Sitemap Generator again.
