• Hi there,

so I have just upgraded a blog to 4.2 and now I am unable to update any plugins.

Single Update: I click the update button, enter the usual connection details, click proceed, the spinner starts and that’s the end of it.

Bulk Update: I select the plugins, start the Bulk Update, enter connection details, click proceed. Now I have a connection reset error inside the IFrame.

Installing new plugins works fine, btw, I just can’t seem to update them once installed.

    Any ideas?

  • Same here!

i had the same problem but managed to get it working again. i’m still trying to find out exactly whats wrong with FTP credentials that used to worked fine all these while, and this new version 4.2.

do try this: if you’re using add-on FTP accounts, try checking if you have “public_html/” at the end of the allowed path. if yes, try recreate the FTP account, minus the “public_html/” in the allowed path and try again.

Same here and i don’t have “public_html/” on my ftp share.

    sorry for my english

right, if you’re on the FTP account that usually shares the same credentials as your CP, then i have no clue. so far i have no problem using those default FTP accounts to update plugins.

the one that caused problem for me was this type of FTP account- username: “[email protected]”, with its allowed path set to “…/domain.com/public_html/” at the end.

i’ll leave this to someone who really knows and have figured out whats the exact problem with the new updates.

Hi. i have also done the recent security update. it got stuck and i had to remove the maintanence file. the site came back up but all widgets are not working on the page and I have no dashboard. have tried deactivating plugins but no good. I am new to this and am stuck

Upgraded a number of sites this morning and now I cannot update plugins anymore. When I enter the ftp-password it either keeps loading or I get a message with “cannot find this page”.
Seems I am not the only one and hope someone will come up with the solution for this problem.

    This topic has the answer.

Deactive plugin, then update plugin and activate again. Problem solved (at least for me).

    Hi MarionWante,

Yes disabling the plugin(s) first before updating works. i actually tried that first before i tried again to update an active plugin, with another set of new FTP credentials (as described above).
