I finally decided to upgrade to 4.3.1. Big mistake!

Apparently, the upgrade failed as I can no longer log in. Looking at the wp-admin/includes and wp-admin/js directories, the files all have today’s date.

    I get
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_roles() in E:\HostingSpaces\history\4-hhistorypreservation.com\wwwroot\News\wp-admin\includes\user.php on line 201

From a general user perspective, the site appears to be working. I just can’t log in to do anything… at all.

Any way to re-start the upgrade? (I have a local backup from 8 months ago, if necessary.)

I’m running on a Windows platform with php.

    The site is https://4-HHistoryPreservation.com/News/

    Thanks!

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Thanks James! I’m up and running again.

I pulled down the botched site as a ‘just in case’ back-up, reloaded 4.3.1 and everything seems to be working ok.

(I also the 4-H site in the original post. Unfortunately, WordPres.org won’t let me log in under 4HHistory. But, that’s a new support request on another board.)

    Thanks again.
