With the automatic update to 4.4.1 today, many of my images do not show up now. But this only is occurring under Chrome and Firefox. Safari and PC IE show the images correctly. At it is not all images only select few of them. It shows the ALT text not the image. If I add a different image it works in Safari and PC IE but doesn’t show with Chrome or Firefox. Very odd.

    It’s broken in Chrome too.

The problem is, your site is running over HTTPS, but you have inserted the image as HTTP: https://www.jonesstevedoring.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/JS-footer-940-logo.jpg

Since the S in HTTPS stands for Security, browsers do not load HTTP elements on HTTPS sites.

You need to insert the image as https://www.jonesstevedoring.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/JS-footer-940-logo.jpg

This is not something that would have been caused by 4.4.1.

Odd that it began this morning right after the automatic update took place. And If I install a new image into the media library and put it in its place it doesn’t show either. Why would some images show and others not? The site has been up for a year without this issue.

Also odd that I can click on the hyperlink and the logo pops up.

    Here’s what my Firefox 43 did: https://i.imgur.com/bEGU31a.png

The image appear when you click on it because you’re just loading the image file.

The problem comes from the *browser* preventing your HTTP-sourced image from loading on an HTTPS page.

As Mark listed the report from Firefox, here’s the report from Chrome:

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://www.jonesstevedoring.com/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure image 'https://www.jonesstevedoring.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/JS-footer-940-logo.jpg'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

What do you have saved as your WordPress and Site Addresses in Settings -> General?

    WordPress Address (URL) https://www.jonesstevedoring.com
    Site Address (URL) https://www.jonesstevedoring.com

If I run Velvet blue plugin do you think it would fix this?
I still find it odd that all was working as intended until this morning.

    Oh, that’s the problem. ??

WordPress is inserting the images as HTTP because you told WordPress it’s an HTTP site.

You’re forcing HTTPS elsewhere, but WordPress doesn’t know this. This is definitely not a 4.4.1 issue, WordPress has operated this way since the beginning.

If you want WordPress to insert HTTPS images, you need to change those settings URLs to https://www.jonesstevedoring.com

    Change both URLs to https……?
