yep, i did my searches. i promise i would not start a thrad unless i was absolutely desperate! and i am!

i’m merging two blogs, and decided on using the MTexport plugin, and the import-mt.php files to get around any nasty ‘database massaging’.

the export plugin works fine- and spits out all my posts. i also did an import into another WP blog OK. … BUT it mangled all my japanese to ?????? marks. i assume this is because i saved as plain text. (i was able to see the japanese text fine in the exported info).

so i tried another export, and saved the new txt file as Unicode. and tried it on yet another blog. no joy!

the import-mt.php does not seem to recognize the posts. it does not offer me to rename the author.

can it not read a Unicode file?

or is there something i am overlooking?
