    Hello!

I’m constantly getting the 499 error in server access logs as shown on screenshot.

Plugin is working in Bypassing Nginx mode. Site’s hosted on shared hosting account — web-server config files are unavailable to edit. Just a few options via hosting control panel. I can control file extensions for which the Nginx server is used for accelerated serving.

Is there a way to get more info on this issue to resolve it? Or any advices or tricks maybe?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @namzzz,

    Thank you for your message.

Unfortunately, we cannot work around this problem. Using Pass Thru mode means that the PHP file is run when the image file is loaded.

Why don’t you use the default image loading mode which is recommended? What error do you get in the plugin settings panel after using the default mode?

    Best,
    Mateusz

    Hey, @mateuszgbiorczyk!

I’ve switched to default mode and removed certain image types (jpeg, jpg, gif, png, webp) from hosting config panel — and it’s working in normal mode now. It was a server configuration error before.

But the 499 error is still appearing in access logs.

@namzzz There are new errors in the access log are you seeing these old errors?

@mateuszgbiorczyk, new ones continue to appear.

@namzzz Have you converted all the images on your website or is the conversion process still in progress?

Have you added new images to your media library now?

Could you send me a screenshot of the Help Center tab in the plugin’s settings? I will check it because in this tab I have information about the status of your website.

@mateuszgbiorczyk, some images were not converted because of their dimensions (4000×4000). It was about a month ago. And there were some files with errors at the bottom of Bulk Optimization of Images section in General Settings.

Screenshots of General Settings and Help Center.

@namzzz Thank you, but I asked for a screenshot of the Help Center tab – not a screenshot of the settings page. Could you send me a screenshot of the Help Center tab in the plugin’s settings, please?

@mateuszgbiorczyk, sorry for inconvenience, but if you scroll down the page – you’ll find it there.

@namzzz I’m sorry – you’re right. Could you send me the latest access log entries?

    (@namzzz)

@mateuszgbiorczyk, for sure. Here they are. As you can see, there only filtered entries of current issue for today.

@namzzz It’s weird. If you haven’t added any images to your media library today, the plugin itself doesn’t make such requests. I thought what could cause such a situation – maybe the hosting blocked such a request in the past and now repeats it periodically.

Do you have the ability to reset the request list?

Also please try resetting the cron request list in WordPress. Here you will find instructions on how to do this.

    (@namzzz)

@mateuszgbiorczyk, i’ve checked the upload date of latest file in media library: 29.04.2023.

I’ve done a reset of all processes via control panel and a reset of wp cron list via phpMyAdmin.

    wp cron task list

The error is still in log.

@namzzz In my opinion, it is impossible. The plugin cannot send new cron requests by itself. It looks as if the server blocked the request and repeated it itself – that’s the only explanation I can think of.

@mateuszgbiorczyk, it is a mystic riddle) I’ve got some files with cyrillic characters in their names thanks to our content manager.

Maybe I should run all files conversion again and show you the output?

@namzzz I have another idea for now. Please deactivate the plugin for a few hours and see if there will still be new entries in the access log.
