• Hi,

After updating to WordPress v5.5 and updating the Classic Editor plugins, Text View / Add Media are not working. I click on the Text tab to edit the text and nothing happens. I can edit via the Visual editor only. When I click on the Add Media tab, nothing happens.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Daphne

  • Hi all, we have another thread going under the Classic Editor reviews section. For me, it was the Yoast Premium SEO plugin causing the issue. Deactivating fixed the problem. Downgrading to WP core 5.4 did NOT work for me.

I added the Enabled JQuery Migrate Helper and looked at the JS error in chrome. It pointed at the Acronix FAQ Plugin. I disabled that and was able to get into the TEXT tab in the Classic Editor.

Yeah, hopefully all support requests will be in the “support forum” section, not in reviews ?? That makes them easier to find.

I’ve updated the pinned “First look here” topic: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/common-classic-editor-errors-and-how-to-fix-them/.

In addition to the usual after-WP-update problems with caches and (rarely) with failed updates or file permissions, there are some errors triggered by very old scripts that use jQuery. There are pretty easy to spot by looking in the browser console (will show as JavaScript errors). Installing the https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/ plugin should resolve them, temporarily.

However these scripts will have to be updated, or the plugins that add them will have to be replaced, by the time WP 5.6 comes out. Plan is for jQuery to be updated to the latest version then.

I’m seeing the same problem with images, and also with the “schedule post” option – the expansion window allowing me to change the date and time does not pop up. Another thing that doesn’t pop up is the settings window when I click the cog when inserting a link – in order to open that link in a new window.

Thank you for the Migrate Helper plugin information. That cured the problem across my entire site. It turns out the SEO Wizard plugin was causing the problem. I literally feel like I can breathe again. Thank you!

I had the same problem. Disabling “Better WordPress Recent Comments” did the trick for me.

    Hello people

I’m not fully qualified to know about it, but I believe that this problem may not be localized. My theme and my pagebuilder are showing problems too, with no way to use the customizer os tabs. And between yesterday and today I found a lot of websites missing images or titles or showing other problems as I was doing a lot of browsing for a research of mine (not related). Can it be a problem with the new wordpress in general?

Having the same error… Please help

I have just disabled all the plugins and trying to activate one by one I have found the problem, at least in my case.

    It is the following plugin:

    https://es.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wpo-tweaks/

As I have seen there are other people who have problems with other different plugins, therefore the error must come from the Classic Editor.

    Regards.

    Same for me. ??

I used the jQuery Migrate Helper and got this:

    /wp-content/plugins/t4p-core/tinymce/js/popup.js: jQuery.fn.live() is deprecated

I can’t find anything at the tinymce site, does anyone have any suggestions?

@unclemorty I am having the same error now after installing that plugin (which did fix the issue for me). I feel I need to contact the deveeloper who created the theme we use (Maxblog) to fix it.

The image carousel on our homepage to our site (dccomicsnews.com) now doesn’t load. ??

I just downgraded back to the previous version using “WP Downgrade”
    Link: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-downgrade/

Very Quick & Easy. Saved my life!

Hope they WP fix this issues ASAP.

The update to 5.5 really screwed with everything on my site – photos in my post were turned side-on; unable to use the Add Media button on new posts with Classic Editor activated. Thank you all for the link to the plug-in. Works like a charm.

I have fixed it with jQuery Migrate Helper, so thank you for that.

But please, if anyone finds any other solution or update about the issue, tell us. I don’t like to use this kind of patches..
