5.7.1 Broke Site [Fixed]

Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry to hear you’re having this experience, and we’d like to check on it to what went awry. 5.7.1 was just released to fix bugs that inadvertently crept in with 5.7.0, so this is concerning.

We’d like to get eyes on this, so could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status Report with us? To find it, go to WooCommerce ? Status, select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Then paste it here in your response.

Can you also add a bit more detail as to how you experienced the error? For instance, did the update not complete? Or, did it complete clicking on another part of the admin and/or the front of your site caused it to not load? If anything else insightful happened, please do add that in reply too.

Thanks for the response! Firstly the details: the update did finish and I was able to navigate around admin for possibly a minute. During that time I cleared the Autoptimize cache and was attempting to clear CDN cache when the site stopped responding. After this point any attempt to load a page on the site, admin and frontend simply stalled until the webserver timed out the request (there was never a PHP error of any kind).

Logging into cPanel and restoring the plugins/woocommerce folder was able to get the frontend of the site back online, however a database restore was required to get the admin area back.

Once you’ve done that, please reach out to us via the Support tab on WooCommerce.com, and reference this thread. If you can include any error logs generated following the update, that would help. You’ll find your logs under WooCommerce ? Status ? Logs.

Sorry for the long delay. I had another attempt at updating, this time putting the site into maintenance mode manually prior to the install.

Observations:
– After install the site worked for a minute, then stopped as before
– No PHP errors generated, just an eventual timeouts for any requests
– SHOW PROCESSLIST in MySQL revealed no blocked queries

This time around the site began to function again on its own after a few minutes, I was then able to take the site out of manual maintenance mode. So far everything appears to be working fine.
