• This update will force a new dialog (in the Dashboard) upon you with the title “Start selling”. Although your Webshop works fine so far it gives you the feeling, you should better complete that wizard if you want your Webshop to continue working any longer.

If you dare to enter that dialog you will find out that its sole purpose is a.) getting statistical data about you, b.) trying to get your permission to inject some analytics code which will slow down your backend c.) selling paid WooCommerce plugins to you d.) changing your great paid sophisticated WordPress theme to a free WordPress theme and e.) installing more free WooCommerce plugins.

If you, however, decide to press the link at the bottom of the dialog: “Skip setup store details” you will be directly forwarded to “Personalize your store”. Of course, you existing store has already a frontpage and logo, but the dialog still tempts you to do this all over again, maybe there is a SEO injection of that logo?
If you then go ahead and really select a logo, you will find out that all existing customizations of your theme will be lost. This means if you have no backup, select your menus, widgets, or any customization you made.

Well done, WooCommerce, you wasted 2 hours of my lifetime!
That exactly the reason why I wouldn’t start a new store with WooCommerce again, but directly move on to Shopify — because business owners have better things to do than just keeping the basic things running.

    Hi @optimiertes ,

I’ve had a look at your updated comment. The issue with reverting stores to the initial setup screen is not an intended behavior. However, this appears to have happened to multiple users after the WooCommerce 5.7 update. Our developers are looking into this actively.

My apologies for the confusion and inconvenience!
