• I’m installing WordPress on my own synology server.

I initiated it with https://www.mydomainname.com/wordpressdirectoryname which led to the screen for database info.

No obvious database problems, WP-config seemed to be created and saved successfully.

The 5 minute install screen fields were filled, the button pressed, and plenty of disk clicking happened, then a message ‘this site can’t be reached nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn (external) server ip address could not be found’

    Any clues welcome! THanks

  • Mind sharing screenshot? At which step this appears? Were you able to set admin credentials on installation?

Thanks for your reply. This happened after I entered the admin credentials on the screen.

In the meantime I discovered that the DNS operation was not working correctly on my server. It was quite a difficult problem to solve as it seemed to work sometimes.

I fixed it when I gave a manual setting pointing it at 8.8.8.8. then reset it back to auto and the problem disappeared.

    Great!

    Thanks for posting your solution.
