• I have a client that had auto-sync turned on for years – apparently it never worked, so I noticed that 5 years of comments are missing from the site, all comments are “closed” for some reason, and the auto-sync never worked. So I tried to manually sync, and nothing happened. Tried it twice.

Also cannot log in to Disqus anymore, all I see is an error message that ‘something went wrong’ on the Disqus website.

Obviously this plugin has been abandoned, it hasn’t been updated in 2 years / last 3 major WP core updates; I find it very irresponsible of the developers to not even inform the users here in the WP admin about their inability to maintain the plugin. A simple quick message would have saved a ton of people from major issues.

Also, the developers need to disable this 12 month limit on synced comments – that’s total crap. I need to download the last 5 years since the plugin was completely screwed up.

    Hi Treebeard,

We released an update to the plugin 4 weeks ago, so it is now up to date. We tested syncing in this process, and it was working in our tests.

I’ll pass along your feedback about the 12 month syncing limit.
If you need to download the last 5 years of comments from Disqus, you can do a full export of your comments from SHORTNAME.disqus.com/admin/discussions/export/
(replacing SHORTNAME with your site’s shortname that you’re looking to export, additional information on finding your shortname can be found here: https://help.disqus.com/en/articles/1717111-what-s-a-shortname )

Doesn’t matter, her entire login is missing from Disqus. I’ve tried logging in multiple times, but the account is just gone. We ended up installing a different plugin that doesn’t store the comments on a third party website, so this will never happen again.
