• I’ve been self-hosting for about 2 1/2 weeks and have published about 8 posts during that time. I have received the following error message about half the time:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Apache Server at syrupandbiscuits.com Port 80

I’ve had numerous telephone conversations with the server host and they have run diagnostics each time and can’t find any issues on their end.

Additionally, the notification of a new posting to the email subscribers has been inconsistent. I’m using Subscribe2.

This is most discouraging to me. Despite numerous hours spent trouble-shooting, I’ve had constant glitches since switching from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com.

  • When do you receive the error? When you are in the WordPress Administration section?

    Who is your hosting provider?

I receive the error when I try to publish a post. GoDaddy is my hosting provider.

    It’s not you, it’s GoDaddy. They’re terrible. Try Bluehost.com.

You gotta check with your hosting provider when you receive this kinda error. And yes, GoDaddy provide lousy support.

I check with the host provider every single time I have an issue pop up. They’ve never done anything that’s made a difference. According to them, the problem is with WordPress. How do you decide when it’s a hosting issue vs a WordPress issue?

By a process of elimination. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
