• I cannot get on my website or wordpress to update my webpage. The message that comes up is as follows:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I have no idea what to do. Please help!

  • Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

I have no idea what that means but it also shows “Apache Server at tarifasalem.com Port 80”

I am at a total loss because I know nothing about websites. This was set up for me and I was made an administrator so that I can update without depending on anyone but have no clue as to how to trouble shoot anything.

Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

Thanks for trying to help me but who or what would be my hosts?

They are the people who you are paying to host your site on the Web.

Oh, okay. Thanks so much. Will check that out.

    Tarifa,

In addition one of the first things I would check from my experience is what is called the .htaccess file. You will want to log into your hosting provider as esmi suggested and rename this file to disable.htaccess file.

Next try and load your site after renaming that file(if it exists on your account).

If it worked, great! leave everything as is and get back to work on your site!

Otherwise go ahead and rename the file back to .htaccess.

I have seen plugins mess up this file several times so that is the first place I recommend on checking.
