500 Internal Server Error

  • All of a sudden last night, when I went to post a new entry on my site, I got this error when I hit publish:

    Server Error
    500 – Internal server error.
    There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

    The posts will sometimes publish, while other times, I have to retry it a few times. I haven’t changed anything on the server or with any of the files. What is this error for?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

    – resetting your custom permalinks to the default setting. If that works, then try reading:

    before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.
