    Hi there, I just downloaded and installed wordpress. I put in details of my username, password and email address. I can now see my page, however when I try to access admin privledges it comes up with a 500 internal server error.

    I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it. However I never recevied an email as it mentioned to confirm installation and passwords.

    I have googled and looked everywhere through the forums, but I just can’t seem how to resolve this issue.

    I would appreciate your help, I’m at my wits end.

    Thankyou so much
    Katrina

    We may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message.

    Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

    It varies depending on hosting provider. You’ll have to ask them.

    i’ve contacted the provider, they are looking into it for me. However, can I confirm. When I put in my first details of username, password and email address was it meant to send me an email to receive confirmation?? I never received this email.

    Yes, you should have received an email with login details, but the next screen should have had your login details too.

    not sure if this will fix your problem but give it a go..
    it worked for me!

    here goes –

    create a text file and name it ‘php.ini’
    place this single line of code within the document and save it.

    memory=20MB

    this file needs to be placed in your live /wp-admin/ folder within your installation. Easy as that!

    log in again and you should be good (fingers crossed!)
