500 Internal Server Error – Updating / Adding Plugins

Hey WordPress Gurus,
I’m currently hitting a 500 Internal Server Error when trying to update or add plugins via Dashboard. The site still runs and accessing the dashboard doesn’t crash anything, I only receive the error when I try to update or add plugins.
Here’s my stack: Running WordPress 3.5 with Thesis 1.8.
Thinking that this is probably a plugin issue, I disabled ALL of the plugins via the GUI dashboard interface, went down and re-activated each one manually in order to isolate the issue, and then tried to update legacy versions of plugins with no luck.
Any guidance would be great.
