• Hi All,

I ran into a bit of an issue when trying to import my blog from another dummy wordpress blog to my newly self hosted wordpress blog.

    Here’s the story…

I purchased a hosting plan with go daddy in August of this year so that I could self-host a 3 year old blog that previously was hosted on blogger’s free platform. When I attempted to transfer the blog from blogger by simply clicking the link provided on my wordpress dashboard it said that it was unable to validate my blogger blog. I believe this had something to do with the fact that on blogger I used a custom domain and when I purchased the self-hosting plan via go daddy I think they changed the FTP. FYI – I’m not very technical (not at all actually) so if that makes very little sense, I apologize.

So as a solution, I downloaded my blog from blogger in hopes of just uploading on wordpress but unfortunatly they don’t have an option for that or I just haven’t found it.

After much research, I came across a suggestion to upload my blogger blog to a dummy wordpress blog in hopes of then transfering the blog from the dummy wordpress to the self-hosted. So I imported the blog that way and all of the post were added to the dummy wordpress blog.

When I tried to import the blog from the dummy wordpress blog to the self-hosted wordpress blog, however, I ran into a problem. I received a “500 internal server error” and the importing process only transfered over 85% of my posts.

Is there anyone able to tell me how to avoid getting the error or suggest a work around, what I may have done wrong here, and how I can transfer over the rest of my posts or if I will have to do the whole process all over again?

Thank you so much for your help in advance and if any of this isn’t clear I’ll do my very best to make more sense :-).

    Thanks!
