500 – Internet server error.

  • I get the 500-error when i’m trying to enter the admin area (but the site works perfectly , just can’t login to admin area) .

    I tried removing all plugins (resetting plugins) , changing the current theme , & I even tried installing a new copy of wordpress in a new directory (of course i also tried clearing the HTACCESS file).

    but the problem remains .

    again both wordpress installations (my real site and the new testing one ) work fine , I can navigate through pages ,but when i try to login to /wp-admin ,it shows Internet Server Error. ( i checked error logs but couldn’t find any helpful information)

    Any help would be appreciated.

    I used to get that problem on the front end when my server hit a memory limit. I’ve never seen it in the admin though.

    I can login via wp-login.php (wordpress sets wanted cookies etc. ), but can’t enter to any wp-admin/ sections. (i can see the-admin-toolbar on wordpress 3.1 when i logged in.)

    I’m sure its not a plugin or theme problem – my fresh wordpress install does the same thing.

    Please check server error logs for the exact error messages
