    HELP!!!

So last night I posted on my wordpress blog (marla.schevker.com/blog) and this morning I can’t access it at all. I can’t get to my login screen, I can’t get to my blog posts, I can’t get to my pages. I have NO idea what to do.. I tried reading other blogs with the similar errors and all I seem to find is solutions that take place once you’ve reached the admin page, which I cannot do.

    Can someone help me please?

Thank you a million times over.

    Marla

  • Thanks darkyefectt, much respect to Carey Best.
I added the php.ini to the wp-admin folder and the problem was solved.

Hi. I was trying to do a backup on my blog https://www.ibdabo.com/blog via my godaddy cpanel when I got the problem: “500 – Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.” Can someone help pls? I’ve been seing threads regarding .htaccess file but not sure if that relates to my problem or how to resolve it.

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

If that does not resolve the issue, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via FTP or SFTP and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your FTP or SFTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message. Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

Thanks a lot. I cannot access the wordpress admin panel/dashboard as I get the same error message “500 – Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.”

I have been using the Default theme 1.6. How do i access the server error log from Godaddy? Thanks again for your help.

Read through the rest of the reply and follow the links within. There are plenty of things to try that don’t require admin access, particularly where I say, “If you don’t have access to your admin panel. . .”

How do i access the server error log from Godaddy?

I don’t know, I’m not a GoDaddy customer. You’ll have to contact them.

Over a year ago i encountered a similar problem and after extensive research online i came accross a short line of code. I was able to add that code to (i think) the database somewhere on the footer and save. It resolved the problem and I had to go in and take off that code again that I used to resolve the problem and the blog kept working fine until now… I wish I could remember specific details/steps I used then to share with you…

Hi. I got it. I had changed the database password which caused the problem. I went in and changed the password in the code as well and that solved the problem.

I got a 500 internal error only when going to PAGES in my admin control panel. I couldn’t see the list of pages. I deactivated all the plug ins and voila! The page list shows up. I narrowed it down to Contact Form 7 version 7.2.4.1 by Takayuki Miyoshi which I had just updated. I removed the culprit plug in. I uploaded version 7.2.3.1 which was working fine before and it still caused a 500 internal error message. I removed version 7.2.3.1 and installed Visitor Contact form using https://www.visitorcontact.com and it works without causing the 500 internal error message. However, I didn’t like the Google Ad that came with the contact form. So I deleted the Visitor Contact plug in and uploaded WP Contact Form III which didn’t work with Word Press 3.0.1. Got an error message when accessing Settings / Contact Form which said, “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” Tried to access the help forum:
    https://wangenweb.com/forums/forum.php?id=2
and got a a 404 Not Found error, so I deleted this plug in. So I then decided to check out SimpleModal Contact Form (SMCF) plug in and before installing clicked the
INSTALLATION tab and nothing comes up. Dropped this contact form immediately. Tried to access the Grunion Contact Form and got NOTHING, just a blank page. Tried Contact Form 8 and got another blank white page where the form is supposed to be to download. Very weird. Tried the same url in FireFox just in case it is a Safari problem. Same results. What is with all these contact forms being so difficult? There is something wrong with the Word Press site since other plug ins are also not available. I will try later. The Word Press site obviously has some issues right now.

Okay … we’re not a blog we are a website. Our problem is that when we click on menus under the appearance tab in our admin panel we get the following message …

    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Just Host is our server, their reply to our support ticket stated it was a css problem with WordPress … but since I don’t know any code I have no idea how to resolve this issue … would greatly appreciate any advice with specific instructions … need replies asap as we are supposed to put up new content monthly.

We’ve already tried the deactivation of all plugins and the twenty ten theme but still no luck … thanks again for any help any of you can give us!

    [email protected]

P.S went into our errorlog at Just HOSt … there is no record of these errors … there are no records of any errors of any kind since we’ve encountered this particular problem?!?!

It is so helpful having this support forum. I just updated an old blog of mine to 3.0.5 from 2.9.2 and got an internal system error 500. After initial panic and rechecking files and permissions found advice about adding
    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

to .htaccess and voila the site is working again!

    Thankyou
