I had uploaded 1,000 full-sized images (from my iPhone) to my wordpress website. WordPress made 4,000 smaller copies. So with 5,000 images in the media library, my website became too large to backup. I looked at (and tried) several plugins before finding ShortPixel. My main concern was that my website would crash, especially since some plugins (not this one) are full of shoddy code and bugs.

The simple ShortPixel user interface gave me the confidence to proceed. I used the bulk resize and optimize function with my 100 free credits, and when that worked flawlessly, I bought a one-time pack of 10,000 to finish my site. ShortPixel ran for 3 hours and the whole time I feared that something would freeze up or crash. IT WAS AWESOME! IT NEVER STOPPED UNTIL ALL 5,000 IMAGES WERE RESIZED AND OPTIMIZED! The result was a 75% reduction in my website’s file-size, and I was amazed. I spent less than $10 to correct my massive problem!

Further, after I emailed the support for a question about my nonprofit status, I was overjoyed at the quick response. When I told them my website was a nonprofit, they gave me an unbelievable donation of free credits! So, all in all, I’m amazed by this plugin and its team of developers. ShortPixel seems to be run by smart, considerate, and generous people.

My plan going forward: I will continue to upload full-size iPhone images (because it’s easy), and I’ll trust this plugin to resize and optimize them automatically. The originals are kept in a backup folder, which can be dumped at any time with the push of a button. I guess I could keep going on and on, but I wont…
