50,000 pages limit per sitemap

    My site has over 50,000 pages.

    Google is not accepting the sitemap generated by Google Sitemaps because of this reason.

    Does anyone know how to limit the sitemap to 50,000 pages creating more than one site map?

  • Yes – we also have this issue, at times, with this plugin.

    This plugin *does* chunk up our custom post types by the Post Date Year & Month, so that helps keep the number of our sitemaps with more than 50,000 pages to a minimum – but we do have a couple sitemaps even with this method that end up having more than 50,000 pages sitemap – and as such, throws errors in Search Console.

    It would be great if the plugin could append a “-2” to its standard Year/Month structure once any of those month based sitemaps approach 50,000 records.
