Hi my site was down completely and siteground technician brought it back by deactivated ultrafast php.

An email I received from wordpress indicates an error from yoast seo.

    Error Details
    =============
An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 32 of the file /public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/src/functions.php. Error message: Allowed memory size of 805306368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 69745782548 bytes)

Siteground technician says the php memory on the server is 768 MB which is, referring to the help center document, is the triple value of 256mb.

Please kindly advise how could I resolve this issue.

    Hello,

We are sorry about the memory allocation issue. Can you confirm that your server has all the right requirements? If you are not sure, speak to your host provider. This guide explains more: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/plugin-requirements/.

Hi I am pretty sure the server is more than capable.

    Hello,

The allowed memory exhausted error occurs when your server runs out of memory to complete the task at hand. Increasing the memory allotted or decreasing the number of tasks (i.e. disabling unused plugins) will usually fix the issue. As you’ve already increased the memory limit and the problem persists, you may consider disabling any plugins you’re not actively using on your website or contact your hosting provider again for further assistance.

I have the exact same situation happening on my website as @zmzdtc888 also hosted with Siteground.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 805306368 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35848392356 bytes) blah blah blah

I have the max amount of memory (768MB) allocated in wp-config.php

I’ll add that Yoast SEO has been on my website for the past 4+ years with 0 issues. It seems something in the 16.5 update is not as it should be.

I’ve disabled Yoast SEO on the server side for now so my website can be accessible, but would like to be able to get Yoast back up and running without losing my settings

Hi @certifiedcomicshop you should try disabling ultrafast PHP from the site tool. I assume there won’t be any serious support from the plug-in unless you are a paid customer.

Hi @maybellyne would you consider it is normal for the Yoast SEO plug-in to consume 70GB memory?

Due to the nature of the issue, we’ll need to take a look at your setup. However, we are unable to do it here as this is a public forum. So, if you have an active Yoast SEO Premium subscription or if you can consider buying one, we can investigate the issue further directly on your setup privately through email.

However, if you don’t wish to get the Yoast SEO Premium subscription, that’s completely fine. In this case, you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue further on your setup as we are literally out of any clue at this moment without taking a look at the setup. So, someone from the community might step forward as well who has experienced or familiar with the issue.

@zmzdtc888 Thank you. I managed to manually roll the plug-in back to version 16.4 (and disabled auto updates lol) and everything is working fine again without needing to disable ultrafast php. So to me, that says this is a problem with Yoast SEO version 16.5 and not server settings.
