Recently we have noticed 502 errors randomly popping up on our websites, all of which are hosted on the same server at WP Engine. Their support says these are caused by our time.ly plug-in being used on one website (https://gabaptist.org). Here is the offending command:

    gabaptist.org GET /?plugin=all-in-one-event-calendar&controller=ai1ec_exporter_controller&action=export_events&cb=1655231426 HTTP/1.1

Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • Hello @barrydollar,

Can you clarify if these errors are appearing in a log file, or, on the front end of the website?

I would recommend making sure you are running the latest version of all software — our calendar, your WordPress platform, and also your server’s PHP.

This error is from a log. Front end simply produces a 502 error randomly.
All is up to date – wordpress, theme, plug-ins.

    Thanks for your attention.

    Hello @barrydollar,

What version of PHP is your host running?

Get Help link becomes available if you used your account do download the plugin. No worries.

    PHP Version: 5.6

    Hello @barrydollar,

I was not able to duplicate any errors on the front end. Can you explain what triggers the error exactly, and also, can you copy and paste the full error message?

They pop-up randomly. The next time one pops up I can do a screen shot. WP Engine checked their log files and found the instances. According to WP Engine:

Thank you for reaching out to WP Engine Support. I took a look at the install error logs and I do see that you get a 502 error based on a specific plugin call:

    2 502 “GET /?plugin=all-in-one-event-calendar&controller=ai1ec_exporter_controller&action=export_events&cb=356477672

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out and let us know.

    Hello @barrydollar,

Looks like it’s related to exporting your calendar events.

I clicked on the [+Subscribe] button at the bottom of your calendar, then clicked on “Export to Timely Calendar” which should download the events into a file called download.ics, however, it gave the error:

    This page isn’t working

gabaptist.org is currently unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500

And the link to the export is:

    https://gabaptist.org/?plugin=all-in-one-event-calendar&controller=ai1ec_exporter_controller&action=export_events

I also noticed you have two calendars listed on your main page. Month view on top, then Agenda view below it. Usually you want to only display one calendar per page to avoid conflicts, and this could explain the above error.

I have several admins and was not aware that someone had added a list view to our calendar page. I can remove that. The thing about download – is this something I can fix on my end? or is it an issue with the plug-in?

    Hello @barrydollar,

It may work fine after one of the calendars is removed. I believe 502 refers to a Bad Gateway error — unable to process a request due to connection/interface.
