    Hello.

My problem is this: When I edit and save a published post for some reason, the site gives a 503 error. After 30-60 seconds, the problem is fixed by itself. Sometimes this error does not appear after the first post I edited, but after the second.

This error appeared a few months ago. Even though I disabled all themes and plugins and tried, the error recurred.

I contacted my hosting company. They worked very understandingly on the problem, but despite all attempts to resolve it, the problem recurred.

What can I do? Thank you from now.

This problem may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to deactivate all plugins and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-Two theme. If the problem goes away, re-activate them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to deactivate all plugins and change the theme for you while you’re still logged in without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    Hi @muslumguney ,

May I know what page builder are you using?

Also, do you clear the post revisions from time to time?

    Hi @macmanx

I followed your all suggestions, but the problem still reappeared.

    Hi @raytan12

I am not using any page builder plugin. I don’t even use Gutenberg as I find it confusing and too detailed, I use the classic editor plugin. I edit pages with my theme’s template possibilities.

    Yes, i clear.

Ok, try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

If you’d like to manually make a backup of your site first, please follow the steps at https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/wordpress-backups/

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

    Hi @macmanx

Unfortunately the problem has not been fixed. ??

    1) I downloaded the latest version of WordPress to my computer.
    2) I connected to the server via FTP.
    3) I deleted the server equivalents of the latest version wordpress files (except wp-content, config.php, htaccess and favicon).
    4) I have uploaded the latest version files to the server.
    5) I cleared all cache.
    6) I edited a published post (added a question mark to the text) and said save.
    7) The post was saved, but when I wanted to do the same operation in another post, when I said save, it did not complete the process and gave a 503 error.
    8) The error fixed itself after a very short time.

Hmm, ok, these errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that specific time. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

    Hi @macmanx

I contacted my hosting. I reproduced the issue, and at this time they investigated the issue.

They sent me this screenshot and they said: “This process shows that the queries are incorrect or the queries made by your plugins cause an error. When the SQL service is restarted, the site broadcasts. At this point, the problem may be sql queries. In general, we recommend that you provide a review in your database queries.”

What can I do now? Thanks..

Ok, that’s not the kind of server error log entry we were looking for, but they did highlight a plugin here.

Let’s go back to square 1. Restarting the plugins may not have fixed the problem, but did the problem ever occur while all plugins were disabled? (even those you feel are necessary to your site)

    Hi @macmanx

At this time, I tried again by deactivating all plugins and theme and the problem reappeared as well.

Ok, if the problem still ocurred while all plugins were disabled, please generate the error again, note the date and time, and either retrieve the server error log entry (no more than 3 lines) from that time or ask your hosting provider to do so.

    Hi @macmanx

Today I generated the error by editing and republishing the same post three times in a row.

The first two republishing went smoothly. But after the third republishing the 503 error appeared.

You can find the debug log here.

Hi @muslumguney as a volunteer, I do not have time to comb through your entire error log, and there’s no way for me to know which entry applies to your 503 error.

So, again, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that specific time. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

Sorry @macmanx . You are right. Thank you very much!

I forgot to add this note: My third update was on July 24, 2023 at 11:41 am, and then error 503 appeared. At the same time the debug.log file is stuck with the warning:

[24-Jul-2023 11:41:28 UTC] PHP Deprecated:? htmlspecialchars(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /home/meslekh1/public_html/kokdizin/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 4650

At the time, there were no errors or warning notes.

    Huh, that’s interesting.

In your site’s Dashboard, head over to Tools -> Site Health -> Info -> Server.

What is listed there for “PHP version”?
