    Hello,

I have 3 languages installed and configured in WMPL, but there was a problem with the Yoast SEO plugin version 17.4.

The page won’t load and a 503 error pops up after a while. After contacting the hosting company, it turns out that the plugin devours all available resources.

After disabling the Yoast SEO plugin, everything works fine. What could be the cause and where to look for a solution?

    Hello @tymwie,

We are sorry about the 503 error. Can you please walk us through how to reproduce the issue? You mentioned that ‘the page won’t load’. Are you referring to already translated pages?

We look forward to hearing from you.

The hosting company said the Yoast SEO plugin was causing a serious problem as it apparently had a bug and was gobbling up hosting resources (CPU and framework). They recommend contacting the developers or changing the plugin, eg Rank Match SEO, which will not generate problems.

The page was constantly and cannot load, after a few minutes the error 503 pops up, obviously caused by overloads generated by Yoast SEO. Only switching off the plug normalizes the consumption of resources and the website works properly.

    Hi @tymwie

Is this a relatively huge website with lots of content?

We do know that the Yoast SEO plugin should run as expected if it meets the necessary plugin requirements.

We also do know that the Yoast SEO plugin should be compatible with WPML if configured correctly – https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/using-wordpress-seo-with-wpml/

When you first install and activate the Yoast SEO plugin, there is an SEO data optimization process that needs to be ran in order to use the indexables, text link counter, and internal linking suggestions tool (this last feature is Yoast SEO Premium only).

For large websites with tons of content, we do know that this can be an issue so we recommend that the indexables process be done via WP-CLI instead of over the WordPress dashboard (SEO > Tools > SEO data optimization), as running it through the dashboard can be taxing depending on your server capacity – https://developer.yoast.com/features/wp-cli/reindex-indexables/
