I am in the process of setting up Wordfence on 2 sites. One site allowed me to do TFA with little issue. The second never did and I was not able to connect the second to Wordfence Central.

This additional info may help you diagnose the issue. The response headers we received were:

HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable Server: nginx/1.23.4 Date: Sat, 22 Jul 2023 04:28:43 GMT Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Length: 282 Connection: close <html><head><title>Error 503 – Service Unavailable</title><head><body><h1>Error 503 – Service Unavailable</h1><p>The resource you requested is currently unavailable. Typically this is a temporary condition. Please contact the web site owner for further assistance.</p></body></html>

This particular error appears on both sites. Below that under > Connecting back to this site via IPv6 (not required; failure to connect may not be an issue on some sites)?>wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: cURL error 7:

    Hi @wendy68

For the line Connecting back to this site this means that when WordPress tried to send a request back to itself it encountered a 503 response status code because your hosting server was down with the message:

Error 503 – Service Unavailable. The resource you requested is currently unavailable. Typically this is a temporary condition. Please contact the web site owner for further assistance.

You will need to ask your hosting provider to look at that.

For the line Connecting back to this site via IPv6 (not required; failure to connect may not be an issue on some sites you don’t need to worry about that as it says “failure to connect may not be an issue on some sites”. This just means that your hosting server can’t send outbound requests via IPv6 IP addresses which is very common. This can be useful for diagnosing failed scans for sites that use a CDN that uses IPv6 IP addresses.

    Hi wfphil,

Thank you for the response. I contacted my hosting service and got the 503 error taken care of.

    Thanks!
