My website was working fine until I installed W3 Total Cache alongwith the CloudFlare extension recently. My website speed has slowed down after that and I keep getting the 522 Error page frequently.

But most importantly, when I try to share my blog post on Facebook and Whatsapp, the previews are not showing the title, thumbnail or the meta description of the article. I have asked Yoast SEO, my host and my theme developer for help yet they have not been able to find a solution.

Yoast SEO have told me that they are also facing the 522 Error issue with my website. Additionally, they also faced a Curl 28 Error (similar to the 522 Error) when they used the Facebook Debugger Tool to scrape my website. They have told me to contact W3 Total Cache to check for any settings that might be causing this issue.

Given that I am newbie, I gave default settings mostly while setting up W3 Total Cache. So there is a possibility that the aforementioned issue has something to do with the W3 Total Cache settings of my website.

Please can you help me with the optimal settings for my website so that I can steer clear of the above issues?

    Hello @jierry

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.

I’ve tested your website on Gtmetrix and I can see that the website W3 Total Cache is configured for your website optimal performance: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/framedventures.com/imwLSpcv
I can see that you’ve enabled Page Caching, Browser Caching, and Lazy Loading. YOur website performance on Gtmetrix is great and the only thing that W3 Total Cache cannot handle are the external resources:

    https://syndication.twitter.com/settings (10 minutes)
    https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=UA-164358712-2 (15 minutes)
    https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js (30 minutes)
    https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js (2 hours)

The 522 Error is a Cloudflare error, so this is not related to W3 Total Cache. So I suggest that you try to follow the instructions in the provided link or contact the Cloudflare support for assistance with this.
    Thank you!

    Thank you!

So according to you, the W3 Total Cache settings are optimal for my website, right?

And how do I debug the external issues?

I have already asked my host to check for the settings as mentioned in the article shared by you. Do you suggest that I get rid of Cloudflare as my CDN and just use my host instead?

    Hello @jierry

Yes, W3 Total Cache settings are optimal for your website.
As for external resources, this is not an issue but normal and expected behavior. As you can see those are google and twitter resources and there is nothing you can do about them.
They are simply loading on your website from the server other then yours and W3 Total cache or any other plugin cannot do anything about this.
    Thanks!

    Hello @jierry

Cloudflare is great and it can help a lot with improving the website speed.
YOu can try disabling the extension and check the difference in speed.
This being said it is entirely up to you. I am using Cloudflare on one of my instances without any issues what so ever.
    Thanks!
