We have used the following shortcode on our website for years:
    [events_list_grouped mode=”monthly” ]<strong><h4>#_EVENTLINK</h4></strong> #_EVENTDATES at #_EVENTTIMES<br />#_EVENTEXCERPT{33,…}<br/>[/events_list_grouped]

After updating to 6.4.8, the shortcode displays the html source for the list without interpretation, i.e. the viewer sees codes such as <strong><h4> instead of a bolded heading. The entire list appears as a single paragraph.

I have rolled back to 6.4.7.3, but look forward to a fix for this problem so I can use the latest version.

Here’s a copy of what appeared on the page:

  • We seemed to have exactly the same problem. But after trying some things (and before rolling back to the previous version) we found out: The editor/user had mixed up html and text. We had the <p> in the visual editor but a &lt;p&gt; in the text-editor.
This is weird as that contents havent been changed for months and the problem occured right after updating the plugin.
My idea: The old version of the plugin automatically corrected that wrong escaping of the HTML and the new version doesnt do that anymore.
You might wanna check your editor too.

Interesting. Our page was created in 2018 and had only seen minor tweaks to content since then, while wordpress has seen quite a few revisions. It turns out the shortcode was in a regular text block. I moved it into a shortcode block and it now displays correctly in 6.4.8. There’s probably still a bug somewhere since it should be possible to embed shortcodes in other blocks, but for my purposes using a shortcode block is a sufficient workaround.

I agree with that. People are used to copy a shortcode and simply paste it everywhere. Usually that works as the shortcode does not contain markup. That old behavior was a good feature.
