• I am putting this review here, because you still have to have the free version, ever if you have Pro.

    I uninstalled the plugin.
    – too frequent updates – if you have Pro, you still have to have the free version, the pro version and also the import export addon – resulting in having to update 3 separate plugins, multiple times a month, many times for silly inconsequential updates.
    – In the free version, they include digital downloads into the cart total and charge shipping on digital downloads – Contrary to what Woocommerce intended.
    – found a free shipping plugin that does not lump digital downloads into the cart total and apply shipping – the new plugin works perfectly and its awesome.
    – If you have to upgrade to Pro – there is no option to pay by PayPal balance because they have it set up as a subscription which results in me having to pay by credit card incurring ridiculous conversion fees – on top of an already expensive plugin.

    My Previous Review
6 updates in 1 month is ridiculous.

    Hi @yatgirl,

To be honest it’s the first review of this type we receive and we are quite surprised that you find the updates frequency as a disadvantage. As a matter of fact it is nearly always considered as a confirmation that the plugin is actively developed, its authors listen attentively to the plugins users’ needs and actually forge them into live solutions. However, we strongly believe you’ll give it a chance, letting the Flexible Shipping do what it was designed for and, based on the user experience, we hope it will make you reconsider your current review.

    Kind regards,
    ?ukasz

If people need a shipping plugin they are running a store. Every update can cause conflicts and have the potential to take your site down.
If you are diligent, you need to test the plugins on a staging site prior to setting them live. All of this takes ridiculous amounts of time away from what you should actually be doing – which is improving and running your store – and making money.

If there are 6 updates in 1 month, I dont think it is an indication of the plugin being actively developed, rather than updates being pushed out prior to being ready and fully tested and then needing to be corrected, a lack of organization to consolidate updates and really a lack of consideration for a shop owners time.

Not updating sites is very very common, because as soon as the updates are done, another flood of updates come along – pretty soon you need to just start ignoring the updates or you have no time to run your store.

1 Quality update a month that has been fully tested, would be reasonable, if necessary – in my opinion.

Thank you @yatgirl for elaborating on this matter. We really appreciate such opinions and consider them as a valuable feedback. We fully understand your point and agree with what you have written about the tests necessary to be performed before updating the plugin and pushing the changes to production site. All the updates we released lately were related to the new features we’ve implemented not so long ago not only to Flexible Shipping but to its PRO version as well. These in fact were some significant changes bringing the plugin functionalities to the whole new level. Nevertheless, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’ll take it into consideration for the future releases.
