I have WordPress set up at https://www.sithly.com/meetme/omgwtf/. I just upgraded to 2.0.2 this morning and, as an aside, I’d like to thank the WordPress folks for making the instructions on how to do so as easy to follow and extremely detailed as you did. The upgrade went flawlessly, and I suspect it had to do with the instructions you provided as well as the fact that I have no plugins installed. ??

Now, on to an issue that I’ve been having since I first started using WordPress. I’ve tried to find a solution but I am simply not skilled enough. I also tried searching the forums here on numerous occasions but I couldn’t find anyone else with my exact problem. If I missed it somehow, please let me know!

    And now, without further ado:

Whenever you click the title to one of the posts on the main journal page linked above, it goes to a page where everything but the body of the post itself is displayed. Also, trying to access any post using the permalink will render the same result. This happens with both Firefox and IE. I haven’t tested this in any other browser.

However, if a post on the main page has a “more” link at the bottom, clicking the “more” link will bring you to a page that has everything it’s supposed to have on it, including the body of the text. It only seems to be the permalink that breaks and produces a page that has everything on it but the main body of my post itself.

This was first pointed out to me by folks accessing my journal site through RSS, and as I mentioned, I have tried for a long time to sort this out but my knowledge of WordPress and things like php and theme building is too limited.

I suspect this may be an issue somehow revolving around my theme, but I just dont know. I haven’t made any real foundational changes to the theme I’ve adopted for my page, because the learning curve is very challenging and I’ve really not had the time to sit and fuss over it until its mysteries have been revealed. And again, I have no plugins. I haven’t tarted up my install simply because my knowledge is too limited at this stage.

If anyone could help me solve this blank post issue, I’d be extremely grateful. I dont even know where to start troubleshooting! Any assistance would be most welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

So, clicking on categories shows posts. Clicking on archives shows posts. Clicking on a post, doesn’t show much post, eh? Does your template have a “single.php”? I’d be inclined to suspect that it is missing some useful tags.

Thanks for the response. No, my theme does not have a “single.php.” I’m sure some useful tags are missing from somewhere.

I also just noticed that clicking on individual dates in my calendar on the page takes me to a 404. Argh. I dont even know where to begin to look for what is going wrong.

    Can someone help? Please?

I could really use some help on this. Please. I dont even know where to start to look. I’m willing to do as much on my own as I can, and I would not waste this community’s time if I could find the answer on my own. I’ve done my best to do so, and I am a proponent of WordPress and I recommend it to everyone I know.

I would like a little help. If this is not the right place to ask, please let me know what is, and I shall trouble you no further.

I’ve been respectful and I’ve tried to explain myself as much as possible. I’ve tried to follow the guidelines about posting here. At least give me the common courtesy of sharing any information you might have that would assist me. I would be most grateful.

    Thank you.

Check your Permalink structure? Try another theme?
